Ballyhoura Walking Trails

The Ballyhoura Mountains straddle the borders of North Cork & South Limerick with views across the Golden Vale of the Munster heartlands. Ballyhoura Bike Trails

Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Trails are the largest trail network of its kind in Ireland. 98km of trails including forest road climbs, tight twisty singletrack with loads of ups and downs, board walk, tight turns and technical rocky sections are guaranteed to leave you smiling.

 

The trails range from the moderate 6km Greenwood loop to the demanding Castlepook loop, over 50km in length! The loops between are Mountrussell 17km loop and Garrane 35km loop.

Facilities at the trailhead include map boards, car parking, toilets, showers and bike wash facilities. On arrival, there is a secure car park with monitored CCTV cameras. There are also snacks and tea and coffee available.

Fota Wildlife Park

Fota Wildlife Park, part of the Zoological Society of Ireland, is located on 100 acres at Fota Island 10km east of Cork City and has an annual attendance of 440,000 visitors. It is currently the second largest visitor attraction in Ireland outside of Leinster.

A definite must visit for all families. No ordinary zoo, here you can come face to face with free roaming animals and birds.

The Donkey Sanctuary, Liscarroll

Knockardbane Farm is an Open Farm and it is home to 134 donkeys. This farm is open to the public 365 days a year. There are beautiful walkways to enjoy with stunning scenery and donkeys and mules to admire. There is a Visitor Centre and picnic area on site and welcome over 50,000 visitors per year. Admission and parking are free with a visitor’s ’information Centre with Tea/Coffee machine, picnic area as well as a disabled access and toilet.
